Contingas, pardalotes, whydahs, eremomelas, camaroptera and cutias… Taxonomists are not good at coming up with easy-to-remember bird names. This is especially true for the rarest, remotest and often most beautiful birds whose ancestors were not named by local English-speaking peoples.
