Moon Bear Rescue

Moon bears are being killed in Laos for use in Chinese & Vietnamese medicinal tonics & may soon be wiped out. I visited a Free the Bears rescue center in Laos that’s trying to stop the poaching. My wife & I helped feed the bears & watched them get excited about being spritzed with bear perfume.  We also met Champa, a bear who is the 1st ever recipient of a brain surgery in Laos.  I interview Michael Brocklehurst, the director of the bear sanctuary in Laos on my radio show, National Geographic Weekend.

Keep up the great work Free the Bears. Great to see Champa doing so well. We all need to support this organisation and stop the illegal wildlife trade of bears and bear parts. If in Laos, please visit the centre at tat Kuang Si. It is well worth it…the waterfall is a beautiful bonus. Free the Bears!!!

Beautiful animals! I hope that some day the Chinese will get smart and realize what they are doing. And I hope that they do this before they destroy too many more species! Thank goodness for these people that are doing what they can to save these beautiful bears.
