For the Love of Elephants

Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation, and other advocates for wild elephants will take part in a panel discussion in New York City this evening about the extinction crisis facing the world’s largest land mammal.

Presented by ABC Home and National Geographic, “For the Love of Elephants: Protecting the Endangered African Elephant by Ending Illegal Wildlife Poaching” will feature Clinton, John Hemingway, producer of National Geographic’s television documentary Battle for Elephants, Bryan Christy, wildlife investigative journalist and contributing writer for National Geographic Magazine, and Joshua Ginsberg, senior vice president of the Global Conservation Program of the Wildlife Conservation Society.

Proceeds from the event will help fund the Partnership to Save Africa’s Elephants, a project of the Clinton Global Initiative. The event is being held on the premises of ABH Home, which is currently featuring an exhibition of elephant photographs by National Geographic Explorer in Residence and wildlife photographer Beverly Joubert.

“The exhibition is key for both creating awareness and also a love for elephants,” Joubert says on the exhibition website. “If people aren’t drawn to the essence of who elephants are, then they may not care. And only by caring will they begin speaking up.” To see more of Joubert”s photographs and read her commentary about photographing elephants visit the exhibition website.
