Face of a Warrior

A Mundari wrestler has prepared for his match by coating his face with a mixture of cow dung and urine. This painting is used to accentuate his tribal facial markings. His appearance is meant to be intimidating and to add to the spectacle of the event. Such decoration is used by most tribes in South Sudan for important events such as dancing, marriage celebrations, or wrestling.
