Rüppell’s vultures are named for Eduard Rüppell, a 19th-century German explorer, collector, and zoologist. They are considered to be the highest-flying bird with a confirmed flight at an altitude of 11,000 metres (36,100 ft) above sea level. Photographed here in Ndutu (Tanzania).
