For one week every year, instead of sending explorers out into the world we gather them back to National Geographic Headquarters for the annual Explorers Symposium to report on their expeditions, meet each other, and cultivate new ideas.
From brand new faces like the 2012 Emerging Explorers to veteran explorers like Bob Ballard, Mike Fay, and Meave Leakey they’ll be here Monday June 11-Friday June 15, and no matter where you are, you can follow the excitement and even join the conversation.
- Interact with explorers and fans on Twitter by using #explorersweek and following @NatGeoExplorers.
- Send your questions about swarm theory and the genius of crowds for a live interview with 2012 Emerging Explorer Iain Couzin on the NG Facebook page Monday, June 11, at 2:30 p.m.
- Send your questions and join us for a Google+ Hangout with ocean experts Katy Croff Bell, Kakani Katija, and Elizabeth Lindsey on Tuesday, June 12, at 2 p.m.
- If you’re near Washington, D.C., get tickets and come to National Geographic Headquarters Tuesday, June 12 for “An Evening of Exploration and Discovery” hosted by Boyd Matson.
Throughout the week, we’ll also be sharing quotes, stories, and other announcements here on the Explorers Journal blog. The Explorers Symposium is always one of the most exciting weeks of the year here at the home base of National Geographic. Follow along and add your voice to the conversation!
